Athletic Placement Process
Starting with the 2015-16 school year, the Athletic Placement Process (APP) will replace the Selective Classfication standards that previously allowed students to "play up."
The purpose of the statewide Advanced Placement Process (APP) is to determine the level of physical fitness students have when compared to older athletes that will be competing in high school programs. If your student athlete is seeking to be part of a junior varsity or varsity high school team, a fitness test, along with a physical examination, will determine whether the appropriate level of physical development has evolved in relation to similar levels of older students (tanner test). Students must pass all required parts in order to be eligible for a tryout and to ensure the safety of their participation.
Step 1: Please contact the Athletic Manager by the following dates to start the process.
June 1st for the Fall season.
October 1st for the Winter Season
February 1st for the Spring Season
Step 2: Complete the parent permission form and return to the Athletic Manager
Step 3: Appendix C (to be filled out by your physician)return to the Athletic Manager.
Step 4: The student athlete will need to contact one of Physical Education teachers or Athletic Manager to set up a time for the physical fitness tests.
Step 5: A confirmation email from the Athletic Manager will be sent that your child is eligible to try-out for the team.
