Dear Families and Community,
Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that New York school facilities will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. The Governor will make a decision about summer school by the end of May. As we look to the future, we must think about what a return to school buildings might look like and how best to support students, families and staff.
We know that we are stronger together. We need all voices to be heard on this important matter. Please participate in a statewide virtual conversation about reopening schools. You will be able to read and rate other participants' responses. Based on those ratings, the most important thoughts will rise to the top. All contributions are anonymous.
This is a statewide exchange facilitated by the 37 New York BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services). The exchange results will be shared with our elected officials so that they will have a more global understanding of the thoughts and ideas our community members have about returning to in-person schooling.
I encourage everyone to use the link below to share your thoughts and help evaluate the critical issues. If English is not your first language, there is a translation feature.

Thank you in advance for your participation,

Good morning! I am writing to you with good news, our last day of instruction for students will be June 18, 2020.
I am moved beyond words of how our school community has come together during this challenging time to take care of the whole child from food insecurities and counseling, to remote learning with a variety of platforms. Families and School Personnel have joined forces and played a critical role in our children’s lives. Together we have inspired a lifelong love of learning and discovery, maintained and built stronger relationships, shown a more personal side of ourselves, and, most importantly, made a difference in their well-being and long-term success. Our students will never forget the support and memories of this past spring. Thank you! You have worked hard for this summer break; I hope this news will kick off your weekend with a smile.
Be well, Kimberly

Hello Trumansburg Families,
I hope this writing finds you well and enjoying the signs of spring.
Earlier today, we were informed by Governor Cuomo that "K-12 schools will remain closed for the rest of the academic year and will continue to provide distance learning for the remainder of the academic year." As you know, our faculty has been working diligently to create at-home learning lessons and activities for our students. The goal is to provide an appropriate amount of learning opportunities and activities that will lead students to the end of year learning goals we have in place for them. While it is not possible to match the instructional practices in our classrooms, our teachers and staff are dedicated to doing what they can to make sure learning continues. We recognize the burden this places on our families. We want to stress how appreciative we are of your hard work and dedication to get our children through this most unusual academic journey.
In the coming weeks, we will work collaboratively with the community to plan how to honor our seniors. I am confident we will send them off with a celebration to be remembered. We will keep you apprised of the details as they become more solidified.
I am so very grateful to work with our fantastic community, faculty, and staff as we navigate these difficult decisions and times. Stay TBURG Strong!
Kind regards, Kimberly Bell
